How to assign test managers

This article explains how to assign managers to the test and what is their role. To manage tests, a role in the system needs to have at least an instructor role or some custom role with specific permissions.

Creating a user with the role to manage a test:

There are two ways to create a new user in the application:

  1. By selecting the “Create user” quick action option from the home screen.
  2. Hover over the “Users” in the main menu and select “Manage users“. From the “Manage users” page, navigate to the “Create new user” tab.

In the “Create new user” tab, you can manually add a new user by entering personal information and defining the user’s role.
If you want to choose a predefined role that can manage a test, the best option is to select the “Instructor” role because this role has all the permissions required for managing tests.

If you do not want to use a predefined role (instructor), you can create a new, custom role and assign specific permissions to it so the user with that role can manage tests.
To create a Test Manager role:

  1. Hover over the “Users” in the main menu.
  2. Select the “Roles and permissions” and click the “New role” button.

In order for a user to manage tests, a user must have a role with at least the following permissions enabled: Page Access, Assign group members, and Fully manage personal tests and surveys.
Tick the boxes next to those permissions and click the “Create” button.

Assigning Test Manager

To assign Test Managers, hover over the “Tests” in the main menu, and select “Manage tests“. Enter the name of the test in the search bar and click on the test name to open it

Navigate to the “Managers” tab.

Click the “Assign managers” button, and the pop-up window will appear. In the search bar, enter the username of the user that you want to assign as a manager, tick the box next to the username of the user you want to assign as a test manager, and select the “Confirm” to save the changes.

Now that you appointed a user as a manager of the specific test, he can edit tests, create new sessions, assign users to that session, and monitor those users while taking the test.
