How to create generated tests with questions with method “By answer weight”

By default, when creating a generated test, you can specify points and penalties per each question difficulty or question category.

This article explains how to create generated tests that contain questions with the Scoring method “By answer weight”.

Using this method, you can also include branching questions in the generated test and allow different versions of the test to have different numbers of points.

Creating a test using the test generator based on question categories

Disabled option “Allow different points in version”

To start the test creation process, follow the instructions linked below:

In the fourth step of Test Creation Wizard, choose the “Use the test generator based on question categories” option.

If the option “Allow different points in versions” is not enabled, then each question’s points, penalty, and duration will not be pulled from the question. There will be an option to define each rule, point, and penalty.

The question with the scoring method “By answer weight” isn’t available for importing into the test through the generator.

Note: The question with the scoring method “By answer weight” is not available because every answer for that question is defined with points.

Enabled option “Allow different points in version”

If the option “Allow different points in versions” is enabled, there won’t be an option to define each rule, point, and penalty because that will be pulled from the configuration of the question.

By enabling the option “Allow different points in versions” the points, penalty, and duration for each question will be pulled from the configuration of the question. This will increase the flexibility of the test versions, but the versions will lose their statistical significance.

Note: Any question can be in the version, and the versions can have a different number of total points.

Selecting the option “Use the test generator based on question difficulties

After selecting the option and enabling “Allow different points in versions” the points, penalty, and duration for each question will be pulled from the configuration of the question, which allows having in one version different total points per question.

After going through the Test Wizard, in the “Grading” tab can be seen only percentages and not points.
