This article provides a step-by-step guide to efficiently managing test attempts. You’ll learn how to access results for a specific test, filter and export data, view detailed reports, and track candidates’ progress. Additionally, it covers how to add or remove candidates, ensuring seamless test management.
How to access and manage test attempts
- Navigate to Tests > Manage Tests and select the desired test.
- Go to the Candidates tab.
- By default, the Overview tab will be displayed.
- Use the search and filter options to refine the displayed data.
- All testing sessions for the selected test will be listed along with their status and the number of assigned candidates.
- Apply filters to view attempts for a specific testing session.
- Hide testing sessions for a clearer table view.
- A table can be filtered according to status, matching the filters from the column Attempt status.
- Clear status filter allows you to remove any status filter applied, returning the table to the original state
- The table can be customized using the following options:
- Refresh Table Data – Update the table without refreshing the entire page (e.g., if a candidate completes the test, their status will update).
- Modify Columns – Add or remove columns to customize the table view.
- Save Displayed Column Set – Keep the table format consistent even after switching tabs.
- Export as PDF or Excel – Download the current table view in your preferred format.
- Personal report – Provides detailed insights into a candidate’s performance, including score, time take, earned certificate, and answer details. You can review reports and grade answers manually if needed. For additional information on how to grade an attempt, refer to the following article.
- Verify Test Attempt – Locks the candidate’s attempt to prevent grading scale changes from affecting their score.
- Allow Candidate to Continue – Enables candidates to resume a test if they accidentally close the window or experience technical issues.
- Reset Test Attempt – Allows a candidate to restart the test within the session’s availability period.
- Additional options include:
- View Previous Attempts – Displays a candidate’s prior attempts with an option to open specific reports.
- Modify Attempt – Lets candidates change their answers if modifications are initiated within the test session’s availability period.
- Add Comment – Allows you to provide feedback on the candidate’s attempt. The comment will be visible on their Personal Report.
- Set Score to Zero – Overwrites the candidate’s score with a zero (this action is irreversible).
- Mark for Review – Flags an attempt for further analysis, allowing managers to add review notes.
Note: Once marked for review, the attempt can no longer be automatically verified. - Change Test Version – Switches the candidate to a different version of the test.
- Suspend Attempt – Temporarily halts a candidate’s attempt due to rule violations or technical issues, with the option to let them retake the test later.
Additionally, further options are available:
- Assign candidates – assign candidates to the selected test scheduled in the chosen testing session.
- When you select a candidate, action options will become available, allowing you to:
- Run on-demand verification – Apply verification criteria to all non-verified attempts in the selected test. Criteria are defined under System > Settings and customization > System preferences > Verification process setup.
- Verify selected attempts – Locks the candidate’s attempt to prevent grading scale changes from affecting their score.
- Mark selected attempts for review – Flags an attempt for further analysis, allowing managers to add review notes
- Remove “Mark for review” from the selected attempts.
- Mark selected attempts as “Did not show up” – Assign the “Did not show up” status to attempts where candidates didn’t take the test within the allotted time. This action can only be applied to attempts with the status Not attempted.
- Remove “Did not show up” status from the selected test attempts.
- Send group email notification – Allows you to define the subject and content of an email to be sent to selected candidates.
- Data Transfer:
- Import Scantron results – Ensure the test is selected before importing results. This option is available only for single-choice, multiple-choice, and true/false questions in tests without sections. Import is only possible for test attempts with the “Not attempted” status. Refer to the article for more details on importing test results.
- Import Remark results – For additional information, please refer to the following article.
- Send test results to LRS – Currently, only results for tests containing true/false, single-choice, and multiple-choice questions can be sent. Sending results for generated tests and tests with sections is not currently supported. For more information, refer to this article.
- Export test results via system job – The Export data job type must be created first under System > Settings and customization > Job scheduler. Only verified results will be sent. For more details, refer to the following article.
- Export direct testing links – Use these URLs to test users without requiring registration or providing a username and password. The system will generate links in an Excel file for you to copy and embed in an external system, such as emails. The Excel file will include meeting links if the test is proctored using conference tools. Upon completing the test, candidates are redirected to the specified URL, and results are saved in the system for instructor review.
- Filter:
- Filter by test attempt starting time – Display the test attempts started within the selected date range.
- Filter by test attempt finishing time – Display the test attempts completed within the selected date range.
- Filter by testing session end time – Display test attempts that belong to testing sessions completed within the selected date range.
- Filter by test result importing time – Display test results imported into the system within the selected date range.
- Show suspended attempts
- Show test attempts from inactive users – include test attempts of users whose profile is inactive.
