How to use test generator for different versions of the test

This article explains how to create unlimited or limited versions of the same test using a test generator. This method includes importing questions from question pools instead of adding the questions manually.

Creating a test using the test generator

In the fourth step of the Test creation wizard, the Method, choose the Let the automated test generator select questions option.

You will be able to generate questions based on the following:

  1. Question difficulty.
  2. Question categories.

If you choose to generate questions based on question difficulty:

  1. Click the Add question pool button to include questions from as many questions as you wish. The system will use questions from selected pools to generate different test versions.

  2. Click on the drop-down menu to view all available system pools and select the desired question pool.

  3. Choose the number of easy questions imported from the selected pool to the test.
  4. Choose the number of medium questions imported from the selected pool to the test.
  5. Choose the number of hard questions imported from the selected pool to the test.
  6. Click the Save button.

  7. Edit the settings by clicking the Edit option.
  8. Delete added question pool by clicking the Remove option.
  9. Define the number of different test versions that will be created. There can be unlimited dynamically generated versions, or you can define the exact number of versions.
  10. Define the number of points per question difficulty category – points a candidate will achieve for answering correctly easy, medium, and hard questions
  11. Define the number of penalty points per question difficulty category – points a candidate will achieve for answering incorrectly easy, medium, and hard questions.

If you choose to generate questions based on question categories:

  7. Click the Confirm button.

  8. Edit the settings by clicking the pencil icon.
