How to Change a Password Within the Application

Article verified for Release 16.1 on October 23, 2026.

This article explains how to change your own password or change another user’s password in YouTestMe GetCertified.

Users can change their own passwords, while users with the appropriate permissions can change passwords for other users. By default, Enable Admin Password Management Legacy Mode is disabled to align with the security, legal, and compliance requirements and standards under which YouTestMe is certified. If an organization has a specific business requirement for administrators to manage other users’ passwords, this option can be enabled upon request. Once enabled, administrators can also grant the relevant permission to users with other roles, allowing them to change other users’ passwords.

How to Change Your Own Password

To change your own password, follow these steps:

  1. Click your avatar in the upper-right corner of the application.
  2. Select My Profile.
  3. Navigate to Information → Password Settings and click Change Password.
  4. Enter your current password in the Current Password field.
  5. Enter your new password in the New Password field.
  6. Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password field.
  7. Set the Expiration Date for the password.
  8. Save the changes.

How to Change Another User’s Password

To change another user’s password, Enable Admin Password Management Legacy Mode must be enabled, and the user performing the change must have the appropriate permissions. Administrators can grant this permission to users with other roles, so this functionality is not limited to administrators.

Follow these steps to change another user’s password:

  1. Navigate to Users → User Profiles.
  2. Find and select the user whose password you want to change.
  3. Click the Open User Profile icon.
  4. Navigate to Password Settings and click Change Password.
  5. Enter the new password in the New Password field.
  6. Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password field.
  7. Set the Expiration Date for the password.
  8. Save the changes.

Important: Password Changes and Active Sessions

Changing a password does not automatically log the user out of an active session.

  • If you change your own password, you can continue using your current session. The new password will be required the next time you log in.
  • If a user with the appropriate permissions changes another user’s password, that user will not be automatically logged out. They must use the new password the next time they log in.

Conclusion

YouTestMe GetCertified provides options for changing passwords directly within the application. Users can update their own passwords, while authorized users can manage other users’ passwords when the required configuration and permissions are in place.
