This article explains how to create additional fields – question categories in the application. Based on those categories, you can later generate tests.
The steps for creating question categories are elucidated below in two distinct methods:
- Creating question categories in the Tests, then the Categories section.
- Creating question categories in the System/Settings and Customization section.
Creating question categories in the “Tests, then Categories” section
To create categories in the “Tests/Question categories” section, allowing you to define questions, two distinct approaches are available:
- Global Question Categories: These categories operate globally, making them accessible to all individuals authorized to manage question categories across the system. Any user with the appropriate permissions can view and manage these categories.
- Workspace Question Categories: This option restricts access to the question categories within specific workspaces. Only workspace members authorized to manage question categories within that workspace can see and access these categories.
Creating Global Question Categories
To create global categories in the Tests/Question categories section, follow these steps:
A pop-up window will appear, and you need to input the following:
- Enter the category name (required).
- Optionally, enter the description (optional).
- Choose the category types.
- Enable or disable Visible in all workspaces.
- Click the Save button to preserve all the changes.
Adding Values
To add the desired values for the created category:
A pop-up window will appear, and you need to input the following:
- Enter the name for the value (required).
- Optionally enter the description for the value (optional).
- Click the Save button.
Note: You can add as many values as needed.
Adding Sub-values
Additionally, you can add sub-values as well:
A pop-up window will appear, and you need to input the following:
Note: You can create unlimited values and sub-values.
Creating Workspace Question Categories
Assigning it to a specific workspace is crucial to ensure that only the right users can access a question category. Only managers and authorized workspace members possessing the requisite permissions to manage question categories within that workspace can view and access the question category. When assigning a workspace to a question category, you can only select workspaces with permission to create a question category. Other users can modify the assigned workspace only if they hold similar or system role permissions.
To create categories and specify the workspace for the category, follow these steps:
- Click the Create new button.
- Enter the category name.
- Optionally, enter the description (optional).
- Select the desired Category types.
- Enable or disable Visible in all workspaces.
- Click the Save button to preserve all the changes.
Note: Adding values and sub-values remains the same as when creating a global question category.

Global admin vs. Workspace admin View
- Global Admin: Sees all question categories in the system, including workspace-specific ones.
- Workspace Admin: Sees only categories in their assigned workspace.
Creating Question Categories in the System – Settings and Customization Section
You can also create question categories from the System – Settings and Customization section.
The two available types, Global and Workspace, function similarly to those in the Tests – Question Categories section.
To create them:
- Select the System, then Settings and customization tab.
- Navigate to the Custom properties tab.
- Navigate to the Question categories in the side menu.
- Click the Create new button.
Note: Creating categories and adding values and sub-values follow the same steps as in the Test/Question Categories section.
