How to Create a Dropdown Type of Custom Question Property

This article explains creating a custom question property (dropdown type) for creating questions.

Accessing the page #

To create Custom question properties, select the System/Settings and customization tab and select the Custom properties tab.

Creating a custom type #

Click on the Create new button to create the dropdown type of custom property.

The new pop-up window will show up where you should:

  1. Enter the name of the custom type. The name must be unique.
  2. Insert description (optional).
  3. Click Save to create a custom type.
  4. You can cancel the creation of the new custom type by clicking the Cancel button.

Once you create a custom type, you should add new values. To do so:

  1. Click the Define values to display a table of values for the desired custom type.
  2. Click the Add new value button.
  3. Enter a value name.
  4. Enter a description.
  5. Click the Save button.

You can add as many values as you want.

Creating a question property #

To create a custom question property:

  1. Navigate to the Custom question properties tab and click the Create new button.
  2. Enter a property title.
  3. Enter a description. This text will be displayed as a tooltip for the property when creating a question.
  4. Choose the Dropdown option for the property type.
  5. Select the previously created custom type from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the Save button to create a custom property.
  7. Click on the Cancel button to discard the changes.

At any moment, you can:

  1. Enable/Disable the property shown by selecting the Enabled/Disabled option.
  2. Edit the property by clicking the pencil button.
  3. Delete it by clicking the trash can button.

Question creation #

While creating a question, you can set the values for the created question property.

The custom property will be displayed, and you should select the desired value from the dropdown menu.

Chosen property values will also be visible in the list of all questions.
