This article explains how to create a hot-spot question in the YouTestMe system.
The Hotspot question is one of the interactive question types offered in YouTestMe. In this question type, candidates are presented with an image and are required to select specific areas (hotspots) on that image as their answers.
This question type is ideal for visually oriented assessments, such as:
- Identifying parts of a diagram (e.g., labeling organs on a human body or components on a circuit board)
- Selecting locations on a map
- Recognizing interface elements in a screenshot
- Highlighting areas of concern in a photo or technical drawing
Creating a New Hot-Spot Questions
To add hot spot questions to a question pool :
- Navigate to Tests and select the Question pools tab.
- Navigate to the Questions tab.
- Click the Add question button and select the “Hot spot” question type from the dropdown menu.
Enter the question text and click the upload button to upload the image you wish to use.
Next, define the shape and number of the hot spot areas.
Draw a shape around the correct areas to define the correct answer. If a candidate’s click falls within the drawn shape, the answer will be marked as correct; otherwise, it will be considered incorrect. Once finished, click the Add to Pool button to save the question.
Hotspot question from the student’s perspective
In a hotspot question, the candidate is presented with an image and must identify and click on specific areas within it.
Candidates can undo their last selection or clear all selections to start over before submitting their answer.
