This article explains how to set a certificate expiry date. After the expiry date, recertification will be required, meaning the candidate must retake the same or another test.
Managing Certificate Validity
The certificate validity period can be set under the Manage certificates tab—either when creating a new certificate or by editing an existing one.
To set the validity period:
- Navigate to Tests > Manage certificates
- Select an existing certificate, or
- Click Create new certificate.
Once the certificate configuration dialog opens, under Certificate validity, you can define:

In the Certificate configuration dialog, under Certificate validity, choose:

Unlimited – no expiry date.

Limited – specify the validity in days or years.
Note: If the validity is less than 365 days, it will be displayed in days by default.

Adding a Certificate to a Test
You can also define or modify a certificate’s validity directly within a specific test.

To do this:

Go to Tests > Manage tests.

Select the desired test.

Open the Certificates tab.

Click Add certificate and select the desired certificate.

Under Certificate validity, set the desired period.

Save your changes.

Note: Changing a certificate’s validity in a test will also update it on the system level.
If the certificate already exists in a test, the validity period can be updated by selecting the Edit option and repeating the steps described above.
The certificate from the candidate’s perspective
Editing Certificate Validity for an Individual Candidate
If a candidate has already received a certificate and you wish to adjust its validity:

Go to Tests > Manage tests.

Select the relevant test.

Open the Candidates tab.

Find the candidate and open their Personal report.

Go to the Summary tab.

Under Achieved certificates, click Edit.

Update the validity period.

Confirm your changes.
Note: Certificate validity is independent of test validity. Even if a test is suspended or deleted, the certificate will still remain active until its expiry date.
