How to Define Certificate Conditions

Only candidates who pass a test can receive a certificate by default. However, some tests require different certificates based on various factors, such as the candidate’s score. YouTestMe provides the flexibility to define certificate conditions.

In this article, you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to add certificate conditions.

Adding Certificate Conditions in the Manage Certificate Section

  1. From the main menu, go to Tests and select Manage Certificates.
  2. Choose the desired certificate, then navigate to the Tests section. You can find or add the tests you want to link to the certificate here.
  3. Click the Edit Conditions button next to the test name.
  4. Each certificate condition is made of several parts: A NOT checkbox (to reverse the logic, like “not passed”).
  5. In the certificate conditions dialog, choose the condition type: And or Or.Certificate - and - or
  6. Select the data that should serve as the condition for obtaining the certificate such as Achieved Points, Max Points, Percentage, or Passed.Certificate conditions data
  7. An Operator, which compares values:

    • For Achieved Points, Max Points, and Percentage, you can use: equal, not equal, greater, greater or equal, less, or less or equal.

    • For Passed, only equal and not equal are available.

  8. A Value, such as a number (e.g., 80) or Yes/No (for Passed).Certificate conditions - define condition
  9. You can add more conditions by clicking the Options button:
    • Insert Simple Filter Before/After/Inside – adds a new condition line.

    • Insert Group Filter Before/After/Inside – creates a group of conditions that work together with AND or OR logic.

A Simple Filter is a single condition.
A Group Filter lets you combine multiple conditions using AND (all must be true) or OR (only one needs to be true).

  10. To use more than one condition, insert a Group Filter.

    Then you can choose:

    • AND – all conditions in the group must be true.

    • OR – only one condition in the group needs to be true.

  11. Inside a group, you can insert other filters using Insert Simple Filter Inside or Insert Group Filter Inside. This lets you build more complex logic, step by step.
  12. Use the Save button to save the changes. Certificate conditions - Save button
  13. If needed, use the Reset button to remove all conditions, or select the condition you want to remove and click the Delete button. Certificate conditions - Reset and delete buttons

Adding Certificate Conditions in the Test Settings Section

You can also edit certificate conditions in the test settings:

  1. In the main menu, navigate to Tests and select Manage tests.
  2. Choose the desired test, then go to the Settings section. In the side menu, select Certificates to add or edit certificates linked to the test.

  1. Click the three dots next to the desired certificate name and choose Edit Conditions.

Follow the same steps described above to add conditions based on the test requirements.

Example: Using the condition type AND

For the Mobile App Development Proficiency Assessment, candidates who participate will receive a participation certificate, regardless of their achieved score. Candidates who score 80% or higher will be awarded both a Certificate of Excellence and a Participation Certificate.

  • For the Certificate of Participation, the condition is set to be a Percentage greater than or equal to 0, allowing all candidates to receive this certificate.

Certificate of Participation conditions

  • For the Certificate of Excellence, the condition is set as a Percentage greater than or equal to 80%, ensuring only candidates who score 80% or higher are eligible for this certificate.

Certificate of Excellence conditions

Example: Using the condition type OR

For the Cybersecurity Foundations Test, candidates who score 90% or higher, or candidates who pass the test and score at least 80%, should receive the certificate.

  • To implement this logic, a Group Filter is added with the logic set to OR. Inside this group, the first condition is a Simple Filter where the Percentage is set to greater or equal to 90. This ensures any candidate who scores 90% or more qualifies immediately.
  • Then, a second Group Filter is inserted inside the OR group, this time with the logic set to AND. This AND group includes two Simple Filters: one where Passed is equal to Yes, and another where Percentage is greater or equal to 80.

As a result, the certificate will be issued to candidates who either score 90% or more, or who pass and score at least 80%.
