This article will explain the creation process of the Open-ended question type.
Adding questions to a question pool
- Navigate to Tests/Question pool tab.
- Click the New button to add questions to a new pool.
Once the pop-up window is shown: - Enter the pool name.
- Enter the pool description optionally.
- Optionally select the workspaces for the question pool. For more information, please check out this article.
- You can decide whether you would want to generate questions using AI. For more information, please check out this article.
- Press the Save button.
To add questions to an existing question pool, select the pool name from the list of pools.
Open-ended question
Single-choice questions present multiple answers, allowing the candidate to select only one.
- Go to the Questions tab to include a single-choice question in a newly created or existing question pool.
- Select the Add questions button and select the Open-ended option.
- Enter the question text.
- Enter the possible answer.
- Click on the Add to pool button to include the question in the pool’s list of questions.
Customize the question’s behavior during test generation:

Tags: Use for better organization or searching.

Difficulty: Select from Easy, Medium, or Hard.

Frequency: Define how often this question appears in generated tests (Never, Rarely, Normal, Often, Always).

Attach supporting materials, such as files or media, either from the library or by uploading a new one.
You may also include attachments at the answer level, such as reference files, formulas, or instructions.

Candidate’s Perspective
When taking a test that includes an open-ended question, candidates will:

See a text box to type their answer.

Be note that the question requires manual grading.

Did not receive an immediate score for the question.

See a Help button if Assistance is enabled (which may result in a score deduction).
This setup ensures clarity and provides a guided testing experience.
